Gite in Medieval Merchant’s House.

Number 8 Place de la Halle is a beautifully restored Medieval Merchant’s house with a façade looking over the famous covered market place, whilst the back faces the River Orbieu, Lagrasse Abbey, and the medieval stone bridge into the old town.

The gite is a self contained apartment in the second floor of the house and it can sleep from two to as many as six people. The main apartment is an attractively furnished, open plan room running the width of the back of the house, with loLagrasse, Languedoc Roussillion, Franceunge, dining, and double bedroom facilities, plus a single bed. There is an adjacent well equipped and fitted kitchen and a bathroom with bath and shower. Across the landing is a separate apartment of a drawing room with two single beds and a lounge area, with staircase to a very attractive mezzanine double bedroom.

This apartment is a self-catering gite of a high standard of facilities and comfort. It affords beautiful uninterrupted views of Lagrasse Abbey and the river. Cars can be parked within the old town in parking places not far from 8 Place de la Halle.

Lagrasse, Languedoc Roussillion, FranceThe gite is within proximity of the Medieval City of Carcassonne, the old Cathar Castles of Peyrepetuse, Queribus, Termes, Lastours, and Mont Segur (all perched on top of mountain peaks), whilst the mysterious hilltop village of Rennes le Chateau is also quite close. (All can be visited.) Lagrasse is about 35 minutes from the beautiful Canal du Midi if you fancy hiring a boat for the day and cruising the canal in mellow tranquillity, for a picnic by a vineyard, or a visit to the renowned Chateau at Ventenac. Within the Languedoc region around Lagrasse are many exceptional wine growing areas where wine (and delicious honey) can be sampled and bought straight from the co-operative or chateaux. The Mediterranean is within an hours drive.

The Languedoc countryside is beautiful, the climate is clement (most days are warm and sunny), eating out is noLagrasse, Languedoc Roussillion, Francet expensive.
